Every single year, we spend hundreds of billions on trying to solve global issues like disease, poverty, hunger, climate change, environmental destruction, and the list goes on and on. Domestically, we also spend hundreds of billions of dollars trying to fix societal issues like homeless, healthcare, crime, infrastructure, and the list goes on and on. Even as a people, as individuals, we’re the most generous in the world. We donate the most to charity, we spend the most time volunteering, and we’re the most likely to help a stranger. It’s not that we spend to little on domestic and global issues, it’s just that, as it turns out, not every problem can be magically solved by throwing money at it.
