BOTW made such huge changes to the Zelda formula though! Why do you say that?

Truthfully, I haven’t played BotW, so I don’t really know how it stacks up to ALttP, but I’m a tired, old curmudgeon, so I can’t see it being more enjoyable. ALttP is just such a concise, well-designed game without an inch of wasted space. At a cursory glance, BotW looks like it suffers from open world bloat and performance issues.

If you’re thinking it’s one of those “walk around to the next dot on the map” / “collectathon” type games, it’s definitely not. BotW was praised for changing the stale open world formula so that the world and exploring the world IS the game, and it’s extremely fun. You never know what you’re going to find. IMO, it captures a lot of the charm of what makes Zelda great. The world is big but none of it is wasted or generic. It’s well designed. You probably won’t like the dungeons though :)
