Japan expressed “grave concern” after Chinese and Russian warships sailed close to its southern islands on Thursday, just a day before its leader is expected to discuss rising tensions in the Indo-Pacific at a summit with counterparts from South Korea and the United States.
Does this really shock anyone or truly cause alarm? No one is going to fire a shot, not unless they want to start a war, and responding back with “grave concern” or anything just gives them what they want to hear and to stoke fears even more.
The best response should be none at all and keep doing the things you’re doing such as the talks, the summits, etc.
