With support ending for Windows 10, the most popular desktop operating system in the world currently, possibly 240 million pcs may be sent to the landfill. This is mostly due to Windows 11’s exorbitant requirements. This will most likely result in many pcs being immediately outdated, and prone to viruses. GNU/Linux may be these computers’ only secure hope, what do you think?
I work in IT. I play PC games every single day. What I’m saying is I am comfortably above average in terms of technical skills.
Around 10 years ago I tried to install Ubuntu and got stock. I asked for help on a Linux form and got absolutely shit upon for not knowing exactly what the correct question was. Most replies were insulting me and a few were links to pages of irrelevant documentation to the issue I was having, since apparently I had to understand all of it to even ask for help.
The experience was so bad I gave up on Linux and still don’t use it. I understand why normal people don’t even bother.
Idk about Ubuntu, but my experience installing Manjaro is seamless. I just put the iso I downloaded from the website onto a USB stick with one of the default AUR apps to do so, booted into it and the just followed the on screen prompts.
