I am looking for programs to put animated wallpapers on Linux, the ones I know for now are: Xwinwrap, paperview and komorebi. If you know of another program that can do this, leave it in the comments so that others can read it and give their opinion about the program.

There is a couple, as you’ve mentioned, but it has come down to primarily a couple nowadays (when looking forward to wayland-only in the future):

    • mpvpaper - wlroots live wallpaper setter using mpv as the backend. Works on things like Sway, Hyprland and other wlroots-based compositors
    • Hidamari - Primarily for GNOME IIRC, although it also supports other desktops on X11. Wayland support on this is currently a bit more spotty
