I’m currently reading The Case for Space by Robert Zubrin and it’s really good. You can tell the guy dedicated his career and life to really thinking about how humans might live in Space, whether that be on the Moon, Mars or in the Asteroid Belt.

I recently read Why Nations Fail by Daron Acemoğlu and that was also very good, it explained the shortcomings of other theories such as the geographic determinism espoused by Jared Diamond in Guns, Germs and Steel although I think Why Nations Fail was a bit repetitive at times.

I guess this is an old thread by now, but since Lemmy is still kind of slow on content I’ll leave my choice anyways.

I found both “The Society of Singularities” (one of his main works) and “The End of Illusions: Politics, Economics and Culture in Late Modernity” (5 shorter essays) by Andreas Reckwitz extremely enlightening.

He’s probably one of the most important modern sociologists in Germany. In “the society of singularities” he offers a pretty conpelling and cohesive framework what changes and trends have transformed our society in the past decades. It really gave me a clearer more organized view on a lot of things.
