Meanwhile, a gift of gratitude by Sehra to Wesley Crusher turns out to be anything but a joy, as Sehra gives Wesley a clumsy slave girl. After much pain and a broken rib, Wesley returns the slave girl to Sehra, who had been trying to get rid of her but is now happy to have her back.
Let me put it this way. I read a Star Trek novel because it was written by a writer I like, Joe Haldeman. Pretty much any other Joe Haldeman book is better than his Star Trek books.
I have a few here that I’ve read and some are pretty good. I haven’t read them in many years, so my memory will be hazy - I had forgotten about Q-in-Law despite actually owning that one.
But, I do remember Metamorphosis as a good TNG novel, where Data is turned human. And Dark Mirror has the Enterprise visiting the mirror Universe, where Evil Troi is the officer in charge of obedience aboard that Enterprise.
For TOS, The Lost Years and The Cry of the Onlies both stick in my head.
I’m not a giant fan of the novels, but this one was great. Troi meets Q.

[nsfw] Somewhere in Nevada, there’s a cosplaying hooker who specializes in ‘Wesley and the clumsy slave girl.’
I’ve not read any of the novels. Maybe they are worth looking into.

Just try to avoid the ones written by The Shatt himself.
So much ego stroking.
The kids have to learn about Tekwar sometime!
(I know that’s not Trek, but it feels relevant.)
