There’s a bunch of people like that on Reddit who are convinced AI is taking over every industry and people trying to push back against AI techbros taking advantage are luddites afraid of change. Pretty sure those office workers will be the first to lose their jobs.
I kept using the term luddite for so long until I read about the actual luddites; it’s crazy how relatable they are and yet they’ve been smeared so thoroughly.
Recently got in an argument with a person claiming to be a leftist who said open source AI would replace all artist and writers within the next 5 years. When I asked him how consolidating even more power under the owner and management class fit within leftist ideology…he said we would simply replace their jobs with a UBI.
After going back and forth with him the last couple days it seems like a lot of tech bros confuse open source software competing with monopolies like Microsoft with leftist activism. In reality they are more often than not effective altruist (capitalism but with more charities), or oxymoronic an-caps.
