I miss living in Melbourne. And there is so much more options for my little one. If (and when) I finish my education degree I’m going to seriously consider moving back. At least working in school I might avoid the ridiculous travel times like I had when I had to work in the city.

Haha, were in opposites here. My MIL is DESPERATE for us to sell and move to Launceston. And TBH, if I could find work it’d be a tempting proposition. I don’t know why I life in Melbourne any more. Its great till you have to deal with the people. Heck even Drouin/Warragul is more tempting at this point.

@danwritesbooks @Thornburywitch where are you? I moved to La Trobe Valley a year ago and love it (though I still am back in the city every second week for work) and hope the local school stays open (heard rumours it might close) though once child is high school age will consider moving back for 5 years.

Every fibre of my being wishes today was Saturday…

E: also, holy COW the Medicare safety net is amazing. 475 psychiatrist appt, would’ve been ~265 out of pocket with the normal rebate. Today the full safety net rebate came through - I’ve paid $46 out of pocket for a 90 minute consult. That’s less than 10% of the total fee. Awesome.

The burgers are better at my house.

Image: A beef patty with special sauce, 2 slices of cheese, Asian slaw, kimchi, on a brioche bun with a side of onion rings and chips. Beer not pictured. It was delicious.

    Cheers everybody 🍻

My dumbass old neighbour decided to mow his lawn…the wind knocked him over cause he’s old…I actually went out to help him up (felt bad for a minute)…he started cursing the greens for convincing people climate change is real.

Stay well old mate. Stay well.

I have just spent way too long comparing electricity plans now that my Lumo contract is about to run out. Looks like I’ll be moving from Lumo to Sumo for power, and to Alinta for gas. I hate that we have to contantly be doing this to get a decent price, and it sucks that the people who can’t have to pay more. Why do we allow people who can’t constantly stay on top of this sort of thing to be taken advantage of? It might be popular to call it a “lazy tax” but it is really an extra cost burden on the vulnerable.

Im currently jumping NBN provider every 6 months to get the best deal. its crazy, when you call them at the end of the 6 month deal they go “Oh we cant possibly match the price we’ve already been giving you!”, ok well, someone else will so like, byeeeeee.

I’ll be doing the same. But even Sumos daily access charges are ouch. Nearly 40 cents more a day than the Lumo plan.

yep, $475 a year just to have the electricity connected. The impact of time of use pricing is interesting too - I save a few hundred dollars a year by having time of use instead of a flat rate. One with demand pricing - time of use, plus more expensive over summer - was also a close one. I might revisit the idea after summer, it could be worth changing to it for winter but if we have a hot summer and I use more air conditioning it would be expensive.

Are you me? I got the email from Lumo last week saying my current rates will go up in August… spent the morning trying to compare different ones and signed up to AGL as they offer the cheapest 😳

I think a lot of people changed to them just before the last major increase. They were cheaper and they locked the price until August - although at the time I was more concerned about the gas increasing.

Decided to go in to work today so I can give myself an early finish to go shopping. Someone had just freshly hit massive deer, easily a 400kg male (the deer not the person who hit it) poor thing.

I always thought that hitting a deer or moose is something only seen in Canada. TIL.

On another note, I’ve never seen a deer in my 8 years in Melbourne. But I’ve seen deer in Indonesia.

Hey lovely peoples. I’m just lying on the couch, waiting for a nap to come along while scrolling through job listings. My brain is mush and I’ve dealt with my fair share of nonsense this week. Just thought I’d say tgif - from my couch to your couch.

Tonight I watched A Man Called Otto and even though I read the book and knew what it was about, I still cried through the movie. And. I. Never. Cry. At. Movies. Ever. It’s not even a true story for goodness sakes. Pull yourself together old girl.

Presentation: 8/10 (the contrasting angle of the bench, board and pizza work well, but the spacing of the beer glass is wrong)
Toppings: 8/10 (I can’t give you 10 as I can’t identify all of the toppings)
      Roundness: 7/10 (I estimate 70% roundness)

Total score: 23/10 looks great, I hope you enjoyed it!

I give that pizza 10/10 , or, if there were pizzas in the Shire and served at the Green Dragon 5 out of 5 hobbits. It looks like a perfect blend of toppings and the crust is perfect right to the centre of the pizza.

Met up a friend for a mutual birthday lunch (between hers and mine) after missing the last three years - first two lockdowns happened just after hers, last year I didn’t feel like going out and celebrating anything.
The cross stitch pressie was a success. \0/
