Sir Keir Starmer yesterday delivered his speech at the Labour party conference - and will be hoping it will be his last as leader of the opposition. With an election highly likely to take place next year, the Labour leader was setting out his stall to members of the party.

May or the autumn are the most likely times when an election could be held. And while Sir Keir’s speech was a bit more sparkly than expected - after a protester dumped glitter over him - there were some glaring omissions.

I don’t think there’s any hoping - quite simply, if he fails to win theirs no way he isn’t replaced.
