It’s a Linotype font and they are one of the most widely used suppliers of fonts and typefaces since before computers. It’s also been included with Microsoft Word since I was a child, so it’s widely available.
Similar to how there is a memetic hatred of Comic Sans (YouTube link), there is a similar one to Papyrus.
And then of course, to Papyrus was made famous by the character in Undertale by the name Papyrus (whose dialogue boxes use the font).
Has Papyrus ever been used in a way that didn’t look like shit?
I love it because it’s highbrow Comic Sans, when you want something that feels special but is entirely meaningless

Why is the font so well known? Was it popular before the skit or did the skit popularize the word?
