Van Dijk showing his quality again today, not sure if Calvert Lewis won an aerial duel after the first few minutes

Typical that the only time he lost it would have meant the routine 1-0 down inside 5 minutes

It’s because he isn’t the direct dribbler he used to be. If you’re judging him by that standard he has fallen off a cliff. His signature move now is drive at the full back and lose the ball lol

However, he has become far more of a facilitator the last 18 months or so. He had a poor game today, but he has been so crucial in our buildup play with quick accurate passes and unlocking defences with sly balls in behind. Yet, he still manages to get his goals as well.

He’s truly phenomenal. Just one of those players who’s never really out of the game even when he’s playing poorly. Always seems to pop up with a goal or assist out of nowhere. True sign of eliteness IMO.

He was dreadful today, created nothing, did nothing except the goals. It was maybe the worst I’ve seen him play. Then he pops up with 2 goals

Genuine question, do you actually think it would’ve changed much if Konate rightfully sees a red card? If anything I think you’d try and attack more and the only times we really looked like scoring was when you tried to attack.

Always fully expect to lose at Anfield yet still come out of all these games annoyed as fuck.

Blatant pen, Michael Keane is a moron, but very suspect reffing the whole game

Suspect reffing the whole game? Konate should’ve seen red but other than that, what did the ref get wrong?

Also do you really think if Konate gets sent off, you’d have got something out of that? The only times we genuinely looked like scoring was when you actually tried to attack us.

Whole game? Bit of a reach. Konate should probably have had a second yellow but what other decisions were wrong?

I’m not sure if I agree with the ref being afraid to give calls against us. That certainly wasn’t the case against Brighton. It was a bad refereeing performance that fell our way, maybe it had something to do with how the club reacted but I’m not sure

We were extremely lucky that Konate didn’t get that second yellow. The pen was legit. Young was unlucky with the first yellow, not the second. VAR should have the power to call a review on potential second yellows. They are just as game changing as reds, it makes no sense that they can’t be reviewed.

They defended brilliantly but at the end of the day we absolutely dominated. If Young stays on the pitch, I still think we win, it would just be a very different game.
