MATCH EVENTS

1’: We’re off!

1’: Decordova-Reid fires one in the first fifteen seconds but it goes well wide.

2’: SAVE! Leno sticks out a leg and blocks Son! Being pulled back for a free kick for a foul in the buildup.

7’: Van de Ven’s sidefoot volley goes over the bar from eight yards out.

8’: Penalty for Spurs??? Big decision for the ref here… it’s outside the box! Just a free kick. Antonee Robinson got lucky there.

12’: SAVE! Palhinha doesn’t even jump and thumps a scary header towards goal, but Vicario just gets his hand behind it.

27’: Højbjerg lets one fly down the middle, right at the keeper for a comfortable save.

30’: Richarlison goes for the bottom corner from outside the box, a decent counter but it ends with the shot going wide.

34’: Maddison whips a shot towards the far side, doesn’t have the power to beat Leno.

35’: Pierre-Emile Højbjerg goes into the book for a late challenge on Willian he couldn’t pull out of in time

36’: GOAL TOTTENHAM!! Bassey fires a bad pass in the back that’s picked up by Spurs! They get it to Son Heung-Min who skips past a couple defenders and fires a shot that Leno is never getting to.

40’: Spurs somehow don’t score a second. A couple desperate blocks leaves them with only a corner even though they seemingly had an open net right in front of goal.

45+1’: Højbjerg goes down after a collision with Bassey, Spurs wants a penalty, none of the officials agree.

HT Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 Fulham Spurs wrecking Fulham right now, probably should be up by more.

46’: Fulham double sub: Raúl Jiménez and Alex Iwobi on for Carlos Vinícius and Andreas Pereira

46’: We’re back!

52’: Richarlison gets a cross from Son and puts it wayyyyyyy over the net.

54’: GOAL TOTTENHAM!! Son decides to lay it over for James Maddison who rushes forward and puts it into the far side! Bassey playing everyone onside.

56’: Tottenham substitution: Emerson Royal on for Destiny Udogie

62’: Tottenham substitution: Oliver Skipp on for Pape Matar Sarr

62’: Fulham substitution: Harry Wilson on for Bobby Decordova-Reid

72’: Fulham substitution: Harrison Reed on for Saša Lukić

81’: Tottenham triple sub: Brennan Johnson, Giovani Lo Celso and Alejo Véliz on for Richarlison, Son Heung-Min and James Maddison

82’: Fulham substitution: Tom Cairney on for João Palhinha

84’: SAVE!! Raúl Jiménez stabs a shot at goal but Vicario keeps it out! Vicario has had nothing to do but that woke him up!

87’: SAVE! Cairney’s shot is caught by the keeper, probably going a bit wide of the near post anyway.

FT Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 Fulham Spurs still top of the table. Hmmmm…

Maddison is the smartest English footballer

High volume #8 that can drop deep, be effective in all phases of the game and is a sexy looking dude on top. My favourite player in the PL

I said it in the match thread, Maddison is different gravy to your usual English 10. He looks like he has little more edge and style to him. I hope southgate keeps southgating him out of the team.

To be fair, he hasn’t played that well for England so far and Bellingham is better in that position. Maddison plays only if Bellingham can’t, that’s just how it is

Don’t get me wrong, I definitely rate Madders, and as an England fan having two world class options for the no.10 spot is pretty sweet

He’s FARt too good to leave him out, you have to adapt the team to fit them both in the 11.

You don’t even have to adapt too hard. Declan Rice is a quality player, gooner cunt or no. A central midfield of Rice-Bellingham-Maddison is up there for the best in the world. But of course Southgate prefers a double pivot with Kalvin “10 seconds of first XI playing time” Phillips or Jord al-Henderson

Unlucky from Fulham to not score, just lacked that edge tonight. Will be their main issue this year I think

Some superb saves from Vicario tbf. Beautiful finish from Son and Madison

Great atmosphere in the stadium as well. Outside of YNWA, hearing a crowd belt out “when the Spurs go marching in” always makes my hair stand up. One of my favs as a neutral

“If Kane goes, Spurs will be in the bottom half, guaranteed” HAHAHAHAHA FUCK YOU PAUL MERSON.

Fucking sham of a Pundit stealing a fucking living.

Paul Merson is the worst kind of pundit, Souness was the same. Just stroll in with their wheelbarrow full of painfully outdated tropes, and mindlessly blurt out the first thought that has managed to struggle its way through the vast depths of stupidity that flood their minds.

Tbh, I agree but to give some nuance -

Lo Celso just came back from injury, hasn’t played since August. Johnson hasn’t played in a month due to injury. Veliz could do more but hard to do much without the ball getting to him.

Skipp and Emerson could have been a bit better tbf. But they were largely unproblematic.

Possibility of getting bodies in Winter if you are around there like Arsenal did last season? You guys still have that Kane money amirite?

We can definitely afford £100M+ in Winter if we wanted to. We’re incredibly profitable.

The problem has never been about the money, its getting players to join us as bench options. Thats the issue, we aren’t going to get a starting quality CB joining us, even if we’re 1st because they know they’re going to be on the bench until there is an injury. If there isn’t, they wont play.

Like, even a CM, someone like Eze from Palace would suit us IMO but i dont know if he’d want to play 2nd fiddle to Bentancur/Maddison for most of the season.

I still think we missed out big time on Connor Gallagher in the summer, he would be a great player coming off the bench 70 mins for us, constantly running and pressuring and good enough to fill in on the starting lineup as well.

Amazingly, we hit 23 points October 15 last season. Still say I’d maybe prefer this campaign.

The last 20 minuts were painful to watch, so much sloppiness in everything. Terribly clear most of those players either don’t play alot or are returning from injuries.

Can’t help seeing the other way; only 2-0 up and we bring on a ton of subs, play the Snooze Patrol greatest hits and really manage to keep them at arm’s length. Being that casual and vaguely competent is very pleasing

really manage to keep them at arm’s length.

We did not do that though. Wilson fucked one, Vicario saved one more 1v1. Royal blocked two as well. Could have been 2-2 just off the last 15 mins alone.

I’d also see it this way if we really managed to keep them at arm’s length. If they had a competent striker it could easily be more dangerous. It’s good our bench is getting some minutes, they clearly need them.
