Reversion to the mean. They were never that good. Before the start they were predicted to finish around 14th position. Even while they piled up wins, stats like xG showed a different story. It was a house of cards. A similar squad finished 11th last season.

But still, the collapse is even more impressive than the unexpected good run before that.

Their only wins were against a team that never left the relegation zone and is already relegated, and against a Fluminense that had just classified to the Libertadores finals and couldn’t care less about the Brasileirão (I was fearing someone important could get hurt).

I still can’t believe Textor actually listened to the players and decided to go with LÚCIO FUCKING FLÁVIO as their manager.

    Bottlefogo.

Never thought this could happen as someone who only sees the scores and table, but some comments here weeks ago already suggested that possible scenario due to the changes during the season.

But what amazes me even more is that RB Bragatino all of a sudden is a top contender this season. They were average at best in the past seasons.

Luis Castro leaving really fucked Botafogo.

Botafogo has been in a bad shape ever since that guy left.

    “That guy” being Garrincha.
