Basically this qualification model is focused on finding the losers not winners

I don’t know if this is a hot take, but they should have a cup for this. CONMEBOL is basically running a confederation league here, so first should get a cup.

If Argentina don’t win in Brazil, and Uruguay beats Bolivia at home, we’d finish the year top of the table

Dale Brasil, mantene la racha por unas fechas más

Yes we play 18 games, and league system are more fair, no coin toss to decide how difficult your rivals are.

Yes, you have to stretch up the qualifiers for almost 3 years. So you play against each other twice. It’s probably the harshest qually for the WC. There are some very hot and humid places or places way above sea level, plus you get the intensity. I do believe second tier European NT would have a hard time making to the WC in this qually.

That’s not how it works, though. With an hypothetical same system, 33 UEFA national teams would qualify directly and 5 or 6 go to international playoffs.
Whether the stadia are very hot and humid or not just shuffles which teams it’d be, you still have the same number of teams.

What happened to Peru? Did the whole squad age out, they had done well the last two qualifications.
