Hello everyone,

I’ve recently moved into a detached house in Norway spanning approximately 280 square meters across three floors. My current internet service provider is Altibox Fiber Broadband offering 150/150 Mbps. The installed home gateway consists of VMG v1 - EX8825 and VMG v2 - EX5401, positioned below the fuse box in the technical room located on the first floor. Unfortunately, I’m experiencing poor signal coverage, with devices such as PCs and mobile phones failing to function reliably throughout the house. ROHS COMPLIANT PATCH CABLE CAT 5E #RZ has been routed to the second and third floors, both of which have been tested and are functional.

I’m seeking advice on how to achieve comprehensive internet access throughout the entire property. What alternatives or solutions would you suggest?

One idea I’ve considered is installing a router on each floor and then integrating both routers into a single network. What are your thoughts on this approach? Additionally, do you have any specific router recommendations for this setup?

I greatly appreciate any tips and guidance you can offer.

Thank you in advance for your assistance! I’m eagerly looking forward to hearing your suggestions and advice.

I would suggest a mesh system. Especially if you have ethernet available on all floors. I have such a system in a 4 floor concrete house. I have the main wifi router in the basement and an access point on each floor. They all connect together via ethernet back to the wifi router for maximum speed and then that router connects to my provider. I have the same ssid everywhere, the wifi devices seamlessly and transparently switch to the next access point with the strongest signal. So I can go anywhere in the house and have maximum signal. It works great.
