Hi all,
I’m looking into solutions for IPMI / KVM access to my server, which is built on consumer hardware. So far I’ve found
-
PiKVM
-
ASRock Paul
-
ASUS IPMI expansion card
Does anyone have experience with these? I had an old KVM but it ran on Java and flash and hasn’t worked for a looong time.
My primary needs are
-
view screen and interact with host machine
-
remotely power host on / off
I’m looking at the PiKVM route at the moment. Does anyone have experience with ASRock Paul?
Intel AMT
Pikvm, or blikvm
ESXi ???
Not conventional KVM. But, think about it… Screen View/Control, Power Control, and more.
Regarding the ASRock Paul, theres a lenghty discussion on the Level1 Tech Forums: https://forum.level1techs.com/t/asrock-rack-introduces-the-paul-an-ipmi-pcie-card/162977/74?page=6
If, your hardware supports Intel vPRO / AMT (Half of my optiplexes did, as did my HP z240s)… That is a built-in hardware KVM.
MeshCommander can expose this is a nice way -> https://www.meshcommander.com/meshcommander
