Hello,

I’ve got an AMD Epyc chip and this thing is huge. Anyway, I’m trying to stick a watercooler on it. I looked around and there are many coolers that claim to be SP3 compatible. In a way they all are, except for the one problem that they don’t always have a big enough copper plate to interface with it.

This Enermax actually does fit one well and I have it on another Epyc, but the reviews are a nightmare and I don’t want to set myself up for failure here.

I also tried out this Phanteks 360D and the bracket and all fits fine, but the actual copper plate on the bottom of the cooler doesn’t cover the entire chip’s integrated heat spreader. That seems like it’s going to be a problem.

Any ideas? I searched around but because of the claimed compatibility it sort of confuses the subject.

Thanks

Honestly, just use whatever’s the biggest noctua sp3 cooler you can fit in your case. The noctua’s do a good job, are designed for the sp3 heatspreader, and as long as it ain’t throttling, you ain’t losing anything

    Just stick with air

I’ve used both Noctua U14s and Be Quiet Dark Rock coolers with no issues

I’ve had more issues with making sure there’s enough airflow over the VRMs than cooling the actual processors
