At the heat of the emotion I purchased 3 TPLink EAP655 (AX3000 wall access point) and a 10 port poe switch from TPLink as well. I’m trying to setup everything together with pfSense, but it is so so so complex that I’m wondering if it’s not best to return everything and simply get a Deco that is actually 250 bucks cheaper and it is Wifi6E.
I’m a developer, I have experience managing complex things, but I really don’t have the patience anymore for it, that’s one of the reasons I don’t use Linux anymore. Anyone of you have gone through this? Did you regret or not? My biggest fear is the constant tinkering and configuration needed for these things.
I know they are not the same but my experience with Deco P7s, their switches, and their smart outlets has put me off any TP-Link products. Maybe their offerings have improved since then, but unreliable has been the way I view them.
You need the omada controller for the eap655. Not sure what it’s like to configure them without it, but they aren’t designed that way. I have an omada network and while I wouldn’t highly recommend their router/firewalll/gateway, the rest was pretty simple to set up and use. I work with enterprise networking daily though.
Yeah if you can’t figure it out get something easier.
have you considered replacing just the pfsense getup with a TP Link Omada router and controller?
It seems like pfsense is not for you.
