A lot of things changed after the Bye week. Ridders avoiding sacks instead of getting dropped (Thank God!), we finally got to see the run game we’ve wanted, and Bijan finally got going. But what didn’t changed was the refusal to use Kyle Pitts and shitty play calls. Do y’all think despite the win this game acts as yet another reason for why Smith should be fired? Or did Arthur fix some of his own problems?
Low key, kind of a genius plan to not use Allgeier until the 4th quarter to bulldoze tired defenses and solidify a W. I wasn’t mad about it.
No. There were some badly called plays. But he still called a good game. You will not find a NFL game where every play is good or perfect. He had good playcalling and put guys into position to succeed today moreso than previous weeks.
If anything, we won in spite of Ridder.
In the second half, when we needed to salt the game away took the ball out of his hands and kept it on the ground, that’s a coach that chose to put the ball in the hands of his best players instead of making 9 the lynchpin of the offense and our team got in rhythm when they removed Ridder from the equation. He threw a good ball to Bijan form the the TD, but he’s still the same QB from week 3. Stares down his receivers and terrible decision-making with the ball. He doesn’t hold the ball as much but he’s due for two TOs a game.
He’s really not staring down receivers like he used to though. He’s been getting to his second or third read even but generally runs after his 2nd isn’t there which wasn’t a bad thing. That throw to Bijan was not his first read and if it was he completely fooled the defense by looking the complete opposite way as he should have. They took the ball out of his hands because that’s literally what our team is built to do. If we have the lead at halftime and we’re receiving we’d better be running the ball heavy or we have an even bigger playcalling issue than any of us thought.
You also say they took it out of his hands at the end of the game as if he hasn’t led multiple game winning drives. Taking it out of his hands at the end of the game is the least of our concerns. Keep the clock moving and kick a field goal is all we needed to do.
I also want to add to this a comment I saw a while ago on Twitter by a Falcons fan. It’s kind of hard not to stare down your receiver when they are running in the same vicinity, and basically the same route.
I saw this comment on that Kurt Warner video, and it makes a lot of sense. It appears Ridder is “staring down receivers”, when in reality the receivers are running their routes on the same side of the field in the same exact spots.
That’s difficult…
I still wanna know wtf Smith was thinking by cutting Hesse in camp.
Idk pretty surprised people think it was a well called game. Some boneheaded calls on critical downs (pulling the tackle and running into the empty space?) and very limited pass patterns on 3rd downs. I think the Saints are THAT bad, our D is top 15, and we have some talent thanks to TF. No coach or game call is ever perfect but still, even if we make the playoffs I’d prefer Smith gone.
