I don’t have enough ethernet ports on the back of my router so i recently bought an ethernet splitter. When it got here i plugged it in and it was working perfectly fine for my ps5 but my cat8 to my pc wouldn’t connect. I checked the splitter and it says cat7. Would i have to order a cat8 splitter for my cat8 cable to work or is there another solution?
Nobody actually uses Cat8, not even datacenters (we just use fiber or DAC). The wiki article says it was designed for it, but it’s less reliable, has more overhead, and is more power hungry, so it never caught on.
