Hi there. Just had my municipal fiber installed today and I’m looking to maximize the new speed. I currently have the 3 puck system from Google.

I have my desktop PC wired to the puck, but pretty much everything else is running off wifi. I understand mesh/wifi in general is not as desirable as hard-wiring, but unfortunately, our house has no sort of cable ran throughout. The city installed the fiber box on the side of the house that is a good deal away from attic access, so they just went in to our front room where the modem now sits behind a couch.

So is there a tangible benefit in upgrading to something like an EX75 or even an X60?

Pretty clueless when it comes to all the specs attached to these items.

    Generally the most you can expect from WiFi is about 500 mbit. Distance, radio interference, radio regulations, and client WiFi limitations lead us there.

    Sure, you can get higher speeds in the same room, or with a very capable (rare) WiFi client, or if you live in a rural area without any competitive radios.

    But otherwise, don’t set your sights as high as the marketing garbage on the WiFi router’s box, because it is not going to happen.
