Im not much of a gamer (ironically I make games for a living) but I made a bet with my kids that if the Detroit Lions make the playoffs this year I’ll buy them a system, and its looking like almost a lock to happen, so I want to get in on some Holiday deals.

This is their first non-Nintendo system so I’m a little lost on which way to go at this point in the generation cycle. For reference they’re 7 and 9 year old boys and are gonna be new to gaming that isnt based around crafting or Italian brothers. (i made them use my old NES, then SNES first, then got them a Switch a couple years back)

Xbox with gamepass is not only much cheaper but much better than ps plus. It offers more and better games imo for a cheaper deal. My personal favorites have been lies of p, hi fi rush and starfield. All amazing games I was able to play and complete for the low price of $15 in a month

PlayStation has better exclusives overall especially games like God of war ragnorak, ghost of Tsushima and bloodborne (my personal favorites). I don’t recall too many of them being on ps plus last time I checked but most of those games are mostly story based and don’t have the greatest replay ability. They are still incredible games that I’d highly recommend buying as they can have themes that you’ll want your kids to learn.

Long story short, Xbox if your kids like hopping from game to game (which at that age I would assume they’d want to do), PlayStation if you or the kids are willing to pay for each individual game, with a higher quality to compensate the price.
