It’s so funny how everybody thinks they’re a dressy expert and when you look back it’s clear we don’t have any idea what we’re talking about

I don’t think Darnold can be classified as a bust. Some dude is going to have to eat a hot pepper and film himself.

“Josh Rosen will be a top 3 QB 5 years from now, maybe even the best QB in the league.”

“Bradley Chubb will start out pretty good. But won’t become more than an average DE. Harold Landry will become elite but it’ll take him 3 years.
Every CB in the first round will make at least 1 pro bowl in their career
In 5 years none of the top 5 QBs will be out of the league, and four will be starters.”

    1. take aged pretty good, both are good DE
    2. 2/3 corners have gone to multiple pro bowls (ward, alexander)
    3. 3 are starters and 4 are in the leauge (Allen, Baker, Lamar starting, Darnold back up in SF)

“The first quarterback taken after the Jets pick goes on to be a hall of famer.”

Josh Allen is okay, but not a HOF at this point.

The Allen stuff was legit at the time the wide concensus was that he was talented but super raw and had bad fundamentals and taking him that early was seen as a mistake. Obviously Josh Allen proved the doubters wrong very very wrong but that wasn’t a hot take at the time.

I mean even if we got him, we would not have been able to develop him. We were a fucking dumpster fire haha. He at least got patience with the Bills.

They were still traumatized from Paxton Lynch so not wanting Josh Allen at the time was understandable.

I’m a Wyoming fan and I followed this draft super close. No fan base was as opposed to drafting Josh Allen as the Broncos were. They wouldn’t even consider it. It was interesting

I mean can you really blame us? We tried the “tall white qb with a cannon and bad accuracy who can run” 2 years prior. Also, I’m not sure he gets the time or development he needed to turn into a star if he was drafted by us

It’s funny too because after Allen popped off, the narrative was “I can’t believe Elway was so stupid to not draft Josh Allen.” As if 95% of our fan base wasn’t super adverse to drafting him

I guarantee you he wouldn’t have. He would’ve looked worse in his first year or two than he did anyway and we would’ve lost our minds over it.

Mason Rudolph will be better than josh rosen

That was actually a really good take. It’s not that Rudolph is anything special, but Rosen is that bad.

Everyone was down on the big tall project qbs because of guys like Paxton Lynch and Osweiler.

And the league at the time was dominated by pocket passer game tacticians in the twilights of their careers (Brady, Brees, Ben, Rivers, and even guys like Matty Ice to some extent). The new game manager pocket passers were killing it too with Goff looking great with McVay in LA.

QB’s like Allen, Mahomes, and Lamar were so counter culture to what people considered a successful looking QB.

Fans wanted traditional pocket passer / supposed high IQ build which Rosen fit

Both the Harold Landry > Chubb takes were very right, even if they both have 1 season of 12 sacks, Harold Landry has been closer to another double digit sack season than Chubb.

Landry only has 1.5 more sacks total than Chubb and Chubb has played in 7 fewer games due to injury. If Chubb stayed healthy he would have a much better total than Landry.
