I’ll raise a glass to the world being a little bit brighter now.

Now I’m waiting on Dick Cheney.

You and me both. While we’re at it, why not toss Dubbya in there too?

The top 12 posts of the past hour on the subs I’m subscribed to are all about him dying. I don’t think I’ve heard of him, but I guess he must have been very hated.

He is responsible for a seemingly endless amount of war crimes and crimes against humanity. If you look at American history when he was around, he somehow constantly appears every time the US does something shitty to another country.

This other article lays out many of the amoral things he did: https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/henry-kissinger-war-criminal-dead-1234804748/

      Some highlights:

      • sabotaging negotiations to end the Vietnam war to win favor with Nixon’s presidential campaign
      • policy of illegally and secretly bombing Cambodia
      • wiretapped and burgled a bunch of people including journalists to try keep bombing of Cambodia a secret (The Whitehouse Plumbers), led to Watergate
      • policy supporting Indonesia’s invasion/genocide of East Timor
      • policy to overthrow Chile’s democratically elected government to protect US Copper mining profits

There’s also the small little detail about him being responsible, either directly or indirectly, for the deaths of 3-4 million people.

“Once you’ve been to Cambodia, you’ll never stop wanting to beat Henry Kissinger to death with your bare hands. You will never again be able to open a newspaper and read about that treacherous, prevaricating, murderous scumbag sitting down for a nice chat with Charlie Rose or attending some black-tie affair for a new glossy magazine without choking. Witness what Henry did in Cambodia – the fruits of his genius for statesmanship – and you will never understand why he’s not sitting in the dock at The Hague next to Milošević.”

He’s had shitty policies that the US adopted and it’s largely the reason why many countries around the world absolutely fucking hate and despise us for what we did to their country.

He destabilized the world governments and basically recommended for the death of many children and civilians, and just because he couldn’t keep his nose out of things because he’s a fucking awful human being, he weighed in on Ukraine vs Russia and said Ukraine should just give up and cede whatever territory Russia wants so they stop destabilizing the world economy or some shit.

He’s a complete hack and piece of shit and should have been murdered in his sleep as a child.

For the past 30 years I’ve been saying “the next time I hear that asshole’s name he’d better be dead.” Last night I finally got that wish.

A lot of politicians live to be around 100.
It’s not better genetics, it’s access to socialized healthcare for a select group of individuals.
My grandfather looked almost just like pictures of 99 year old Jimmy Carter from a few days ago when he passed away at 77 years old.
Don’t get me wrong, Jimmy deserves every breath he takes and it’s sad he’s near the end.
But it doesn’t give me hope that we’ll be rid of Trump anytime soon.

It’s kind of the opposite of socialized healthcare, because it’s only available to a select few.

        How I meant it:
        Socialized healthcare = publicly funded.
Universal healthcare = publicly funded and everyone gets it.

I see where you’re coming from, but if you think of “socialized” as relating to socialism, it doesn’t hold up, because public funding is a feature of all governments, not just socialist ones.
