Due to some confusion, the /Conservative mod team have decided to clarify rule 2. The actions taken will remain the same, this is a rewrite to hopefully clarify what rule 2 is, and what /Conservative is.

Rule 2 is “posts must be right wing, and comments can be of any political leaning.” This is to garner discussion, to bring to light stories and perspectives that may be absent in other communities. and to allow discussion on these stories and perspectives. Hopefully, that makes sense.

We’re rewriting Rule 2 to read:

Posts must be made from an (American) right-wing perspective. This does not include comments, be as lefty as you want in the comments. If you feel it’s unclear, please check Allside’s Media Bias Chart and feel free to message the mods if you have any questions. We reserve the right to make judgment calls.

If you think that this is unclear, please leave a comment below.

Yeah that’s some mealy mouthed shit, just as vague but now with a fig leaf of justification for the nonsense you pull on a daily basis.

Like, its fine if you want a conservative hug box, but it’s pathetic that you want one and are too afraid to even come out and admit it.

Arguably, you’ve created the problem by being too specific. And it’s your community to run, not mine, so take whatever I say in whatever fashion you prefer, but this is inevitably the end result of trying to make the rules as specific as possible: you get people who just try to work around the exact wording you chose. Fix one loophole, and they’ll find another.

and that is the issue. They are not acting in good faith.

I have many Democrat friends in the real world and they try to have good faith discussions with me. They don’t understand how i can be a Republican and honestly I don’t see how they can be Democrats.

In life though, politics is important but other interests are important as well. We have a lot of other things in common.

I think why it’s hard to be friends with liberal generally speaking is that becomes their whole personality. They are just liberal.

Interesting. I have seen them warn both sides of the table. I see exactly the opposite of what you claim.

You just want to troll the sub which adds no value.

The topic should be relevant to right politics or views rather than just a troll attempt. It should be something that a conservative would want to talk about or would have an opinion on.

Thats true. Its kinda tricky to write the perfect rule, and I’ve rewritten it about 10 times before just sending it. Its part of why I added the “We reserve the right to make our own judgements” bit.

It doesn’t have to be perfect. It has to be about the intent.

Are they trying to create an environment for discussion or are they just trying to troll?

I mean a little trolling is to be expected but if that is their sole purpose, then what value do they add?

Most likely no minds will be changed on the internet but seeing the other side is, I think valuable.

Given the amount of children who run Lemmy communities that will ban people for not being nice, ban someone using mean words, it sounds ike /Conservative is group that moderators will not listen to complaints about hurt feelings.

Does this mean I can say something ike men are losers and women are whackjobs?

No. Thats called sexism. Its bigotry. Falls under rule 1.

But to answer your thought, we are fairly lenient. Usually on borderline stuff, I’ll either let it go or issue a warning. Even on clear cut stuff, I’ll usually only give out 1 day or 1 week bans.

Maybe its a little too lenient, but I’d rather too lenient than too strict.
