I’m really disgusted with the lack of control to dismiss recommendations etc. as a PAID subscriber.
The only recommendations they give is to listen to MORE to change the nature of the advertising.
I don’t want to see (insert some brand of shit podcast) on my home screen but there’s no way to make it go away!

You can use InnerTune to listen to free music from the YouTube Music library.
On desktop, Nuclear or https://beatbump.io is neat.
Ublock origin on Firefox seem to block ads and trackers on music.youtube.com when I’m on desktop, but thanks.
Some trackers are first-party and as such cannot be blocked without blocking the website. Beatbump works around that
It sucks that it even needs to be done, but on the desktop client at least there’s a program that I use to reskin Spotify and add plugins for functionality like blocking podcasts and audiobooks. If you wanna check it out it’s called Spicetify
Thanks! I’ll check that out. I listen to podcasts, but I don’t want stuff FORCED onto my main screen if I cannot turn it off. If o could dismiss it, I wouldn’t really care so much.

Yeah it took me about ten songs to figure out smart shuffle is a total gimmick.
Spicetify on PC, xManager on Android.
Spotify lately has been soooo buggy for me.
- enter app and the screen dims as if there is going to be a pop up but nothing. Just dim screen and nothing works.
- randomly pauses music. I often times have to press play twice before it finally resumes playing… Only to happen two more times during a song.
This has been happening for a month or so and I’m so over it. I keep Spotify because it seemlessly recommends similar songs to me.
Gosh I would love to get away from this POS app.
