Oh I had no idea! I just assumed it was closed source because I had to pay to get the Pro version. Still an app worth paying for though
If you downloaded Slide off of the google playstore, the premium version was paid as a way to help support the dev. If you downloaded it off of F-Droid, or directly from Github, the premium features were free.
GitHub page says it’s open-source., this version we don’t know yet.
Can confirm, it’ll be foss, though the code is kinda horrifying :D
It’s copyleft, not permissive, so we do know it’ll continue to be Free Software.

Wow no way… Slide has always been my favorite 3rd party app, and I always felt like the only one using it when I’d mention it on reddit. What an awesome surprise!
I stopped using it because apparently it had been abandoned by the dev, and switched to Infinity because it’s extremely similar, but I loved Slide too. Will definitely use this.

I’ve used Slide too. It was super intuitive and I’ve never had any issues with it at all!
Hands down the most/best customization. If anyone complains about the UI, it just means they didn’t tweak it enough!

Lovely. Slide was (is?) my Reddit app of choice. As an open source app, Slide and Lemmy would go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Yes please, I just uninstalled slide last week. While some things would bug out ocassionally, I couldn’t imagine using any other app with reddit. I’m on Jerboa now and its just not the same.

I miss Infinity. It was such an elegant app.
True, I was using it for 5/6 months, but before that I used Apollo for years.
To be honest I feel good about Lemmy, It just needs time to popolate.
Thank you so much! I tried several Reddit apps over the years and Slide was by far my favorite. I used it up until the blackout when I left Reddit for Lemmy.
