If the FBI were to approach me undercover and ask me if I want to kidnap my governor or provide explosives and firearms for any reason, my answer would be no.

How would I know they were FBI? I wouldn’t. Here’s the thing: I don’t want to do any of that stuff under any circumstances. It doesn’t matter if they’re the FBI trying to set me up, a foreign spy trying to recruit me, or whatever. I’m predisposed to not wanting to do any of that stuff.

And the article here is subtly saying it’s okay that there are people who want to overthrow the government, kidnap and murder governors, and help cause chaos…the real problem is trying to find out who before they’re a real problem.

Aside from the obvious historical parallels of FBI baiting groups of people and their treatment by conservatives, the people in this case are a threat to national security and should absolutely be punished for the abject weakness of their national character.

    Fuck 'em.

Glad you’re okay with the FBI setting people up.

Your problem is your making this about what you think and not the root issue at hand here is. They aren’t getting into trouble because the FBI baited them.

Saying that would-terrorists are a threat is not the same as condoning the FBI running afoul of the law.

Did you do any research at all into this? The FBI supplied everything. This is textbook entrapment. I’m not a terrorist sympathizer of any stretch of the imagination. However, there are better ways to find terrorists than to bait them. If the FBI has to bait people into doing things then it makes me question the usefulness of such an agency.

That’s pretty much what they did at ruby ridge.

Randy weaver was racist but the government created the problem.

the people in this case are a threat to national security

Uh. No. They weren’t. They were spoon-fed a plot that was fake from the very start. Without the FBI’s involvement, they never would have done anything of the sort. It’s not entrapment, because there’s no evidence that they were coerced into committing crimes, but there’s also no evidence that they would have even made a half-assed attempt in the absence of the FBI’s plot.

There are enough real threats without going around concocting them in order to justify the GWOT.
