The 3DS is such a nice handheld, perfect for homebrew.

Why is it that the WiFi on it is so slow, though?

I don’t really know, if it is the wifi or the the speed of the servers. But my wifi isn’t bad, have 300 to 600 Mbit/s down depending on location in house…

Short research: 3ds has wifi 3 (802.11b/g) which has theoretically max speed of 54 Mbit/s paired with multiple pokemon games at about 3Gb, the time it took was reasonable.

Maybe it’s better (faster) to just download the cia file on pc, dumb them onto the SD and install using FBI. But I don’t mind letting the 3ds running on power cable overnight to download stuff.

Just like the wiiU roms with the WUP folders

i tried the file on SD card to CIA variant.

It’s not so much faster that it made it more favorable for me but it was much more unreliable. It got errors atleast 3 times for me and the successfull run still took 3-4h… So with the manual tinkering and hoping it doesn’t error out… i always chose the wifi route where i just know that it can take a day or two until it’s there but i know it works
