When exactly? When the sun rises in the west? When the very air we breathe makes us choke? When the crops completely fail and millions if not billions are starving from their fine work? When they’re 30 feet deep in some luxury climate bunker designed to protect them from the consequences of their sociopathic greed?

Talked about this before but I’m at the point where I’m just waiting for a crowd I can blend into and have at least a small chance of getting away with it. If we start burning down places tomorrow…im fucking there.

yes, I admit, that makes me a coward in this but it is what it is.

How much evidence is it going to take to prove to you that these capitalists are nothing but scammers, no harder working or more competent than anyone else?

Those morons in DC were storming the offices of the scammer’s paid middle managers. Wall Street and it’s associated towers of corporate lies and exploitation are what need to be destroyed.

All Capitalists Are Bastards. Cops want to bully you, but the capitalists siphon the very blood from our collective veins and call it good business.

Occupy had the right location. They just needed to be far more militant.

They also needed to have some sort of coherent message. Most could barely articulate why they were there, and what they wanted.

I also wish that people would start actually presenting some actionable alternatives. And not high concept, “we should strive to do x” alternatives, but actual “we can start implementing this change tomorrow” type things. I’m getting tired of hearing from all sides that everything is fucked. I know everything is fucked. What is the plan to fix it? And no, “burn it all down and start over” isn’t a plan. That’s a tantrum.

"burn it all, “burn it all down and start over” isn’t a plan. That’s a tantrum.

No it’s humanity’s only faint hope, because if we do not stop the capitalists with physical force, they won’t stop, they will use their power/capital to further divide us and purchase their own regulators, and with one technology or another they can profit from with “externalities” they don’t care about because it’s not their problem, they WILL destroy the only habitable world all humans rely on from one breath to the next in their need for mooooaaaaaaar. and let’s be honest, if we can’t even find homeostasis with this forgiving world, Mars or Titan habitation, worlds where a single mistake means everyone dies immediately, is a bad joke. It’s 2024 and 2 lunar landers ended up broken and upside down. Our moon is basically the interstellar equivalent of successfully sucking on a baba. For more than “we did it” ego trips with 5 highly trained people walking a high risk tight rope of death to plant a flag, Earth is all we got without at least a millenium of technological advancement we probably don’t have.

We probably won’t stop them though. So we’ll almost certainly destroy ourselves demanding infinite growth/metastasis on a finite world. Which it sounds like you like, as at least we won’t throw an unseemly tantrum on our march to extinction, I do declare. Let it not be said that we didn’t practice decorum.

I think this might be what the scientific community hypothesizes as a great filter.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Filter#:~:text=The Great Filter is the, detectable extraterrestrial life exceedingly rare.

Maybe when species evolve sapience, they destroy themselves with technologies they are juuusst barely smart enough create, but are still too primitive, selfish, and “duuuuuuuh” to wield responsibly for the collective good. Hence why we don’t see a galaxy teeming with signs of other civilizations.

We just made this gasoline shit that makes these wheels go vroom and went to town because fuck it wheee! What could happen?! “herp derp if we didn’t humanity wouldn’t be 9 billion strong!” Oh you mean our numbers would still such that the planet could sustainably support our species? Can’t have that amirite?

Burn it down and build something sustainable is our only slim chance, but don’t worry, we’ll fail at that too. The Earth will eventually recover and go back to the drawing board though. It’s recovered from worse than us, even mistakes of evolution that were worse than us, we’re just the inverse of the Permian extinction event, caused by carbon storing trees that at the time had no mechanism for efficient decomposition. I take comfort in that. It almost lets me forgive my species for being the fucking worst, because maybe we’re just a fact of a large enough ecosystem over time. You can’t blame a metastatic tumor for what it does, it’s in its nature.

It must be that I’m just more optimistic than you. In a world with the type of weapons we possess, “burn it down” is giving up. It’s the end. There will be no rebuilding. At least not until the tardigrades develop sentience.

Following the capitalists down their road of burning the world for short term private profit, laughing about rebranding the damage they do as “externalities,” is also the end, and if we want the truest of ends for our species with no survivors, save a few self burying sociopaths in bunkers watching the last flickers burn out, then we’re doing exactly what we need to be doing and we need only watch them do it.

There is no hope in maintaining the current course. None. We have the technologies to destroy the human habitability of our only world, the short term private profit motive to use them with reckless abandon, and no government or regulator they can’t buy standing in their way.

The practicing sociopaths have all the keys. What is the defining characteristic of a sociopath? “Benefitting myself will hurt other people? Pfffff 💵😂🖕”

Us hemming and hawing about what parts of this system can be rehabilitated just keeps us indolent and divided, keeps the practicing sociopaths in charge, and keeps us literally stepping on the gas to extinction.

If we want our species to one day, long after we’re all dead, have a sustainable civilization on this world, we will have to suffer generationally undoing what has been done a piece at a time. Entire Generations will have to suffer to plant trees whose shade they know they will never sit in if our species gives shit one about the survival of our species. We need to shrink our global footprint, we need to have our species as a whole more involved in our food production, we need to stop pretending any of us can live above nature in decadence.

But again, we won’t, despite our fictions we have no such nobility, so good luck to whatever sapient species comes after us.

there’s talk of a general strike. WAIT WAIT don’t walk away! This time Shawn Fain is talking about it, and trying to get other unions in on it, scheduled for may 1 2028.

Something as big as that will need a lot of time and prep, and that means you and me, too. even if that only means saving money and securing food. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/jan/22/autoworkers-uaw-shawn-fain-may-2028-national-strike

I think Occupy was really interesting, and part of the reason was the lack of a clear and actionable message

I fully agree that the best and most effective protest movements are those with clear goals and demands, and Occupy wasn’t that

What it managed to do really effectively was bring all kinds of people and ideologies together - there were the active leftists and anarchists, but also liberals and the middle class and all sorts. I’ve read articles and accounts that talk of just every kind of person spending time in that main/original camp, and it spawned a lot of similar events here in the UK

Ultimately it had the same kind of energy as the ‘If you want it, war is over’ billboards of the late 60s. And absolutely thats frustrating from an activist p.o.v

But on the other hand, it did in a lot of ways shift public perspective. I’d stop short of saying it changed the paradigm, but it definitely contributed to an anti-neoliberal, anti-free-market normalization

So yeah, idk. It didn’t really achieve anything; the issues it tried to tackle are still omni-present. But maybe it did do something in some hard to quantify, nebulous ways. Its interesting at least 🤷‍♀️

But yeah really not a blueprint of an effective protest in a majority of ways

Okay, start in local election. Vote in every single one of them and get all your friends/people you know/anybody around you to participate to. Nothing changes until we start at the bottom. There are usually bills and such up that provides funding to schools and all other things. The key is mostly old people turn out for these. We have to start there.

Another thing we could do is try to raise the pay for all local offices. Usually only the already wealthy can even think about taking these cause the pay is so abysmal a high school student would reject it. If we change that we can begin to put our people in the grass roots and enact change locally, strengthening our cause to enact change nationally. This is the path to ranked choice. Its not easy.

Once we get people actually able to participate things will change. But this entire machine is set up so the only fuckers with time and will to vote are retired old conservatives.

Wrong. Most of the worst billionaires don’t spend time on Wall Street. They live separate, insulated lives in areas where it’s hard to gather the masses. Going to bus your Occupy community to Wichita KS? Laguna Beach CA? Teton WY? Miami FL? Even if you do, you wouldn’t get them past the security gates, much less onto the compound. Your only hope would be to bring along/disguise yourself as a bunch of Mexicans, come to do all the maintenance work.

Not if you destroy all the computers that store their ego scores/power, and that is far more essential. You just have to destroy enough servers and redundancies to make them people again. Then they don’t even matter, and can go off and die from being sheltered fancy lads and lasses their whole lives having to navigate a real world.

Their power is stored in bank and capital market records. Global financial systems and their redundancies need to be smashed to pieces and burned. We need to wipe the filth of their scam away. Getting them would just leave their power to their nepo babies and grand babies, taught at private schools from birth to see us as their livestock. That wouldn’t solve anything. Their record of wealth must be destroyed, and that means destroying all records of wealth. That is the cudgel they pass down generationally to beat us over the head with.

The billionaires can’t tie their own shoes without their cash machines and the lackeys they buy. We need to reset the Score to 0 for everyone, or they will continue to control us. No fair allocation can be discerned by this fucked global economy scam for anyone, as it was rigged from the start.

Don’t worry though, we won’t do anything except continue to destroy our own habitat to further enrich them. We need revolution, and that revolution’s most important soldiers would need to be talented analysts that can identify where the data and its redundancies are physically stored.

I campaigned for Bernie twice, phone banked, went door to door, etc, and attended support rallies for Occupy Wall Street, but the more I learned, the more I realized how captured this system is. It has mechanisms in place to divide rising movements and indoctrinate us with the curriculum they inform from K-Colleges of economics to falsely believe we need the wealthy “job creators” and we need to work against each other.

This system cannot be repaired, it would collapse first before it would accept change that benefits Americans from the worst off up, it has been engineered for the opposite. I take solace in knowing that though I may not live to see it, Rome always falls in the end to its own corruption and decadence, and entropy cannot be cheated. This system will collapse, my money is on when crops start failing en masse from capitalist made climate change.

Anyone else watch Road to Wellville?

Recall watching it randomly in the 90s on our only movie channel. Story is it’s about Kellogg’s wellness retreat, not meant to be true or anything (I assume) but I always think of it when Kelloggs is brought up. Also always makes me think of the term ‘bicycle smile’ since that may be one of the only times I heard it.

Commented here since seems to be relevant to his weird ideas.
