I don’t know much about Damien Egan but I’m thrilled Marv won’t be the candidate. There seems to be such a disconnect between how he’s perceived in the national media or outside of Bristol vs in Bristol (although my view of the later is no doubt biased by my own opinions).
He’s always carried the attitude of “you either do what I say or you’re a cunt” and it’s miserable following local politics with someone like that. Basic, basic, council services aren’t being delivered but he’s happy to fly all over the world promoting his own brand. Shameful.

But also you can’t ask him about his flying all over the world or he’ll ban you from press conferences!
