I don’t know why I bothered to keep staying there for so long, probably cause of the games and sports I’ve been following but what did it for me was a shitty self-depreciating meme about fictional women not wanting them irl.
I basically disagreed and said I felt confident enough that wouldn’t be the case and then got accused of not understanding the joke (nigga said skill issue? How terminally online do you have to be 💀), obviously I did I just thought it was corny cause I don’t do self-depreciating humor.
Sorry not sorry I have too much self respect for that lol 🤷🏿♂️
So proud of you.
Thank you 🥺🙏🏿 I honestly gotta start being better about my mental health
Make sure you’re strong, so you’re ready when we march. ;***
Will do 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿🏃🏿♂️
Good call. The internet (reddit especially) loves self-depreciating humour. But if it isn’t your bag, you shouldn’t feel obligated to play along just to “fit in.” Kind of defeats the point of self-depreciating humour when others are demanding you belittle yourself for their amusement.
What else can you expect from a cesspool like reddit…it’s not like I didn’t know I just don’t know why I stuck around for so long.
Did you use anything to delete the messages on your account before actually deleting the account itself?
Been wanting to quit for a while.
There’s not really much point to that, except for I guess the ritual of deleting everything. They almost definitely keep all the ‘deleted’ data on their servers, and so do archive websites and dedicated reddit archives like reveddit.
I was going to ask, What’s the rationale for deleting posts? Opsec, maybe? I can see why some people would want to hide old posts from general public consumption even if the server-owners still have the text somewhere.
To make reddit worse for other people browsing reddit. User content is what makes a social platform worthwhile.
yeah it seemed pretty pointless as i went through deleting stuff (anything containing key words related to geopolitics, like capitalism, etc. at least - i never talked too much about that stuff on reddit so others may find doing even this to be time consuming). rather, i edited them and replaced them with 1s and then deleted them. but it gave me more peace of mind and at the least perhaps made it a bit tougher for background check companies if their data gathering and capabilities advance to being able to piece stuff like that together.
If I recall there is an extension for Firefox (could be wrong) that mass delete comments/posts for reddit but I hadn’t used it on this account, I probably will later I just felt so annoyed I was just liked fuck this
Just went ahead and deleted my profile after searching for key words and deleting specific posts. Decided not to use an extension since it looked a bit dodgy. All manual and it took an hour, but I’m finally reddit free. Thanks for the encouragement.
Glad I was able to encourage you! 😊
My 45k karma account has been inactive for over a year now lol.
Yesss lol
I just left as well. Been a lot better and had more engaging interactions on the internet since
Yeah I’ve found here I’m not getting anxious every time I get a notification lol.
Right? Here I get excited and the regular 'Ole dopamine rush, on reddit I’m preparing to he shit on and lose 500 karma because I said “hey maybe Xi Jinping isn’t literally throwing babies out windows” lol
You won’t miss them.
Honestly I already feel better not having to constantly roll my eyes at the stupidity, it’s also helping me limit my screentime on my phone
I’ve been trying to get my whole account banned so I don’t have to manually delete all the old posts. 3 subs so far banned me for being a meanie bo beanie to gamers, blue maga, and zionists. Basically begging for them to kick me off at this point.
Uncritical support to comrade Shinji in his pursuit of getting banned from reddit
