    I mean sure if the cost of their life is outweighed by any damage they may do and if there’s non-lethal options without a high chance of something going wrong

    Also voluntary manslaughter which is effectively “you murdered this person but your reasons for it were good enough that we think a reasonable law-abiding person could have done the same” but not “it was in the public interest for that person to be stopped by any means including murder” but it’s still effectively society saying “yeah that was kind of justified”
