    I like to think of it as the death throes of a dying “American Christianity.” The bible thumping, barely literate, “hands off my guns,” homophobic christian nationalism. I really REALLY hope it is at least.

      Living in the cousin-fuckingly deep south, it’s still alive and well here.

      Hopefully the rest of the the country is less fucked.

    Like the video shows, the Christian Nationalists themselves are making this claim to feed their persecution complex.

    I think people are missing this part:

    and most Americans think that’s a bad thing.

    Which means a religious revival could be just around the corner. That is the bad thing.

      Yep. I am seeing a lot of people celebrating in these comments when I feel like the opposite should be happening (assuming everyone likely just read the title and did not watch the video).

      Christian Nationalists will establish their theocracy and still claim that religious values are in danger. It’s how they radicalize more people. The fact that these survey results indicate a widespread dissatisfaction with the decline in religious values implies a potential rise in religious extremism, not a win for atheism.
