Yes I have my subscribed communities and block communities I don’t want to see.

It seems like that’s all what most people on lemmy want. Is to be political. Shits tiring asf.

I see lots of really cool fun communities like photoshop nonsense, and others that are silly and engaging where you can be creative and there’s little to no participation.

It seems like with most social media, people just jack themselves off to any opportunity to put their political opinion online as if they’re someone influential or something.

It’s fucking annoying. A bunch of dipshits with a megaphone

Looking at all/scaled right now for me. Only 1 out of 9 posts is political, plus this post which I’m going to call meta and not explicitly politics. The posts that get popular with high engagement are primarily political but I think other stuff is out there if you’re willing to comment and vote on new posts.

What kind of communities do you enjoy ?

Yes, I’ve been browsing communities lately and looking and joining some cool ones.

Been posting non political stuff too besides this one post

It’s a wild time for the world, and the US in particular.

While we all like to get away from it from time to time, ignoring doesn’t make it go away. Social media is a way for people to connect, organize, and act together.

Politics wears me out but I do need to know what’s going on. So, I have multiple accounts with tailored feeds depending on my most common moods.

I’m working on a directory (community list specifically, someone else is taking care of programming) !lemmydirectory@lemmy.dbzer0.com to make it easier to discover communities to follow and block communities you’re not interested in because I also dislike the political stuff. I’m currently busy with other parts but soon I will be looking into ways to allow users to subscribe/block communities in bulk. Sharing this because I just happened to find this post while looking for communities for the directory.

E: here’s the GH page for it: https://github.com/fnic-lemmy/lemmy-directory

And that makes sense to me as the various exoduses from Reddit were led by very political disputes.

I am actually also in the Fediverse due to politics, so I can’t criticize them.

    But I understand the frustration.

This is true of social media, whether it’s about politics or not. People are just trying to get an audience
