Terminology is telling here. “Slitting a throat” is an act of murder and stealth, used to kill an unsuspecting victim with premeditation. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a presidential candidate use the term, although there’s been plenty of violent rhetoric over the years.

There a reason for that - it’s a coward’s way to kill. The fact that Ronnie drops it like it’s a normal fantasy of violence (like punching an asshole, or shooting an intruder) speaks to a deep, underlying pathology. This is a man who lionizes deceit and cruelty. I wouldn’t want him looking after my goldfish, much less my children or my country.

I was trying to figure out why that phrase felt very extra creepy and off putting. I think you nailed it.

While the thought of someone who eats pudding with their fingers up to the task of slitting throats by his lonesome is humorous at best, it’s the trogs in the back row who get their marching orders from their Rice Krispies gives me pause.
