Hi! My bag of frozen rats has a few of these weird rats and I was wondering what specific breed they are! Their fur is a lot shorter than usual, their skin is soft and has many folds, and their tails are only about half as long as the tails of the “normal” looking rats in the bag. Maybe they’re younger than the other rats?

They are around 35g heavy. I’ve fed one today and was pleasantly surprised at how little it smelled while heating up. Plus my snake took it so much more eagerly than she usually does. So I’d love to know what exactly this rat is so that I can specifically order some more :)

After some more research, I think that might be it ^^ It does look a lot like rat fuzzys do, although I’ve never seen one this big. Actually I’ve never seen one at all, because I only got my snake at a size where the 20-30g rats I got were all in the “weaned” age group… and now I’m on the 30-50g bag and they’re larger but younger somehow?

Guess these rats were just born really big for some reason lol. Kind of a shame, that coat is really cool, kinda reminds me of Shar-Pei dogs

Maybe they’re selectively breeding them to get bigger and better product?

Maybe! Or maybe it’s just a line of rat that is really big by default. Maybe they’re related to NYC rats lol
