To me the Kaczynski emoji represents a cynical and nihilistic desire to abandon civilization and live in the woods. It’s used ironically when one is presented with bleak details about modern life and technology, not to indicate that Kaczynski is correct, but that something is depressing enough it implies the poster is briefly lowered to Kaczynski’s awful politics.
If you want to read further but past hexbear discussion on the topic of “Uncle Ted,” he was talked about quite a bit around here when he died a year ago. I remember a couple threads where people were debunking the mythology you’ll sometimes see portraying him as a kind of based anarchist.
