I believe the historical understanding is that early Christianity was expecting the end times to come either within their lifetimes or relatively soon after
Sounds like what Christians were saying when I went to church as a kid

It’s also interesting how this is happening with llms
Rhetoric that threatens existing power structures has no room to linger. Since fascism still shares a lot of traits with unmitigated and decaying capital (in addition to the fact that LLMs are trained on Reddit) it hangs around much longer than leftist rhetoric that is openly hostile to the bourgeois.
It’s all an escape from propaganda babeeeeeee
The_donald broadcasted unite the right wherein a fascist killed heather heyer
Cth just said words that offended capitalist sensibilities
Shoving your fingers in your ears to ignore the horrors of reality is what libs do best! In fact, it’s how many were seen walking into the DNC when confronted by protests for Gaza
“Now now, be sure you remain calm and collected about the checks notes genocide”
Shit I was halfway joking about one of my experiences, but the fact that it’s happening everywhere radicalizes me even more
I could genuinely be doing anything else in theory
That’s still so crazy though. Liberalism is a scourge
Ooooh in that case
Let them institute “IQ” tests then
Oh but look at it from their POV. Sure you described a problem and how to go about solving it, but acting on it and moving forward would be too brash. We have to make sure there’s enough material for a 3-month long email chain
“Quick get us the data! We don’t care what it says, just get us the data so we can make a clean dashboard and meet this deadline!”
Lmao the whole “iq test for voters* narrative pushed by some dems is so incredibly absurd to me
Like do you seriously think that there is not one, idk, fucking accountant out there that could easily pass your dumb test but believes Trump is the second coming?
It’s almost like there’s a reason why you can’t reduce human intellect to a single data point. Sure is convenient how the “why” is never president in any STEM circles though!
That’s tech bro brain for you
Such a staggering lack of foresight that all of us have to pay for lmao
Oh? But have you that of the parmesantarian?
I think about that every damn day. Every day
Like the fact that I could go to all the places I wanted and walk home at the end of the day? I could genuinely cry.
Convinced this is why some people just don’t leave academia, though they kinda make you leave with the pesky threat of poverty unless you get an “adult job” that creates shareholder value
Apologies, infinite scrolling
Definitely shouldn’t have used those terms interchangeably
Anyone have truth social? It would be very funny if hexbear had a hand in US politics
“Oh that’s fine, we’re all on the spectrum!”
calmly explains why all of us are certainly not on the spectrum and why
“Well I tend to think that since it’s a spectrum, we’re all on it.”
Why are people so Godamn incurious
I can’t really comment on this intelligently, but I truly cannot stop thinking about how communism and fascism come as a packaged deal. Is this a pattern throughout history or the result of the never ending Cold War? I think the minute “authoritarianism” comes into question is when the conversation ends, but it’s ridiculously absurd because I can instinctively point to “authoritarian” tendencies in capitalism. Any good readings when it comes to this phenomena?
And obviously capitalism goes hand in hand with fascism, so what the fuck? Truly, my brain just needs to understand how there is any association between the two whatsoever.
Sounds good to me!
