I don’t want to make you discouraged, actual Pride events can still be mixed, but there are definitely some leftist ones if you look depending on where you are.You’re right that probably none of us will find themselves at an event with Kamala Harris in it, but this is very much a widespread issue in the queer community and not isolated to govt events. White (non-immigrant, non-disabled) queers can be especially insufferable, because they have a sense that due to their experience as a queer person, they understand all forms of oppression and have an inherent connection to all other oppressed people. That’s obviously not strictly untrue in a sense that all our struggles are connected, but the white privilege invites a lack of effort to understand exactly in what way they are and are not connected, and leads to white queers doing racism pretty often.
