Politico reported this week that the European Commission has acknowledged the concerns raised by the influx of US-style pick-up trucks entering the EU [1], in response to a letter [2] co-signed by ECF and seven other organisations. Together, the organisations called on the EU Commission to close loopholes in European and national legislation that currently allow these vehicles to enter the EU with limited to no safety or environmental protection regulations.
Germany, of all, clarified that all cars that are registered and individually approved after November 2024 have to fulfill the full set EU regulations. Previously, only the regulations of the respective member state had to be fulfilled. Those are mostly from the 60s to 80s and very lax.
