Last panel is weird because at first glance I could swear he called somebody on his phone, but I guess he is just yelling down the street?
I believe he is holding his head to stabilise from the pain of True’s fury.
He’s cupping his hand next to his mouth so his voice will project better. It’s funny that to a modern viewer it looks like he’s using a cell phone!

There are several comics that haven’t aged well but those aren’t posted very often. The vast majority of them seem to be pretty great though.

I think he’s mad at the gardener for bringing his hoe and shovel with him, but how else is a guy supposed to get to work?
