The Texas attorney general is cracking down on Democrats in a supposed crusade to root out “voter fraud.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s crusade against supposed voter fraud appears to be targeting the state’s Democrats.

Last week, Paxton’s office announced raids and undercover actions against organizations in Texas it accuses of illegally registering noncitizens to vote. In practice, though, the raids have taken place against members of the League of United Latin American Citizens, the oldest Latino civil rights organization in the U.S., as well as several prominent Democrats in south Texas.

According to LULAC officials, the group’s members had their cell phones and laptops confiscated by law enforcement officials carrying out search warrants.

Is he really “in big trouble”, though? I feel like he’s not in any trouble, and if anything all the people who had the cops come to their house and take all their stuff are in trouble

I’ll start to think he’s in trouble when the FBI gets involved. I’ll actually think he’s in trouble when he’s in prison.

But I have to think this kind of story will help turn voters out against Republicans in Nov. Every little bit helps.

Or remind right leaning Latinos the party doesn’t want them or appreciate them. Broadcasting these kind of actions might disenchant Republican Latinos off the whole election - which would be a reasonable thing to do, in their shoes. Just bow out this cycle cuz you feel no one earned your vote. That’s a rational decision.

God, I hope so. But I just don’t believe it. MFer got reelected as an indicted felon. TX courts aren’t going to do anything about him, and who can trust the SCOTUS to do better at this point?

Is he though? It diesn’t seem like Republicans tend to actually be punished for doing horribly illegal stuff as long as they hold a position of power.

Is can see Clarence Thomas rubbing his hands and cackling with joy hoping this ends up at a SCOTUS

The allegations would carry more weight, except for the fact that Republicans and conservatives have been repeating the claim of noncitizens illegally voting ad nauseam, with little, if any proof. Last week, Fox News presenter Maria Bartiromo repeated an allegation of “massive lines of illegals” for nearly a week on national television, with only a “friend of mine’s wife” as her source. House Speaker Mike Johnson has pledged to take on the nonexistent problem by sponsoring the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act, even though the information he’s citing is bogus. Elon Musk has also been taken in by right-wing propaganda on the issue, urging new laws to be passed to tackle something that’s already illegal.

He’ll get away with it. It’s Texas, after all.

Since Paxton is the top cop in Texas that means any attempt to make him face justice will involve the DOJ.

This seems like a good reason to reach out to DC.

Ooooh is he “increasingly isolated”? I can’t believe he’s in trouble unless he’s increasingly isolated. Or maybe if the Democrats release a statement expressing “disappointment”. Hooo doggies!
