I missed the part where fighting among two groups of belligerent assholes who think they’re above the law isn’t funny.

That’s the sort of non-empathic “some people deserve to die” attitude that keeps the death penalty around.

Empathy for rapists and murderers is NOT the reason I’m against the death penalty.

I am against the death penalty. I do believe some people deserve death. But I also don’t think anyone should have that authority over someone who isn’t a threat.

So yeah, I agree that I’m not in a position to say that someone deserves death.

I guess I didn’t realize “certain people deserve death” was part of the social contract.

In that case, yes. I would say it should be abandoned.

But some people do deserve to die, Squid.

Just not by the hands of the state. Until they can guarantee guilt of the perps, which they can’t do, then they shouldn’t be allowed that responsibility.

Punishments should befit crimes. A corrupt judge hard hands 1000 black teenagers to years in a privately owned juvi, taking kickbacks? Add those years up, and that’s the Judges sentence.

Corrupt cops, first and foremost, should be treated like criminals when they break the law, full stop. Beyond that, due to the breaking of public trust, should receive treble time based on no less than the average amount of time served for their age and gender. So they could never be sentenced to less than the average, then have to do 3x that amount, unpardonable, no early release.

When justice demands blood for blood, honestly, I don’t think we’ve advanced much from the middle ages. But I also think that the sentence should be carried out by either the wronged or the judge themself. It should be hard to take a life, and if you’re demanding it and justice allows, then you should carry that weight.

There was that guy who shot that dude in the airport on live TV, cuz duder kidnapped and raped his 12yr old son. That’s the real justice i hope to protect theu jury nullification one day. The state doesn’t define justice for us, we all already know what justice is. The state just talks a pretty game, maybe wines and dines ya, then raw dogs after saying they’re wearing a condom and forcing the abortion the following week. That’s the American Judicial System, more concerned with appearances than solutions, mores dispensed per diem.

If you don’t stand up for what you believe, then by definition, you don’t stand for anything.
