I hate that dumbass volcel joke, it wasn’t funny in 2017 and it’s still not funny. Just feels like this weird ass wave of conservatism is coming out of nowhere and now we’ve gone from sex liberation to “being attracted to anything makes you a gooner”

I make this one a lot and am usually reminded that there are many queer ace people. Which is true but also “sex” or “horny” is something different to everyone and has some serious differences across cultures as well, to the point that what one person or group might consider “sex” or “horny” can be and often is entirely different to others. So the whole “no horny” shit is exactly what leads to this image being a struggle session in the first place. Is the image more sexualized than it could be? Yeah sure. Is that an appropriate artistic and stylistic choice that can add value to it? I think so. Are we missing out on similar content that could be considered questionable because of an intense fear of even acknowledging sexuality on Hexbear? Yeah definitely. Is that a problem? Honestly it’s up to the community to decide.

I think a “no sexbear” rule makes total sense for many reasons and it should definitely continue to be a strong rule, but I also think that “attacking anyone for being remotely horny in literally any capacity” is also extremely problematic and causes a lot of issues too, basically.

It’s not a fight worth fighting though, there are other queer left kink friendly spaces online that can fill the gap. At least that’s what I’m told. I’ve never found any.

There are genuine issues with spaces that try to erase all things perceived as sexual from them (well, mostly, of course there’s genuine utility in spaces that have no sexuality even allowed to be mentioned in them or anything, for ace people spaces and people with sexual trauma and such for example). It’s more complicated than just silencing queer perspectives but I need to stop vague posting and leave it for the effortpost
