Hi all,

I’m looking to make a positive change in my life by quitting weed. I can’t find any Lemmy communities though- does anyone know if one exists?

Thanks!

I’m not sure about Lemmy but SMART is perfect for me. You can find a meeting just about any time of day if you do it virtually.

Not sure of any communities, just wanted to wish you luck on your journey. I’m pushing 40 and have been 7 days 100% sober, longest stretch of my adult life. Best of luck 🫡

I know on Reddit the community was called /r/Leaves maybe try looking for that terminology on some bigger instances. Of course you can always make your own if you want

Your local addiction services might help.

Myself, I haven’t felt the temptation to use again since I discovered I’m trans and how much better gender euphoria feels.

I usually split my time between reddit and lemmy when the community I want isn’t active enough. I’ll lurk reddit and post/comment on lemmy. (/r/leaves)

There are a lot of reasons but it just boils down to “when I’ve quit, life gets better, when I smoke, life gets worse.”

I’ve done that entire “maybe if I solve X mental issue I can smoke again” strategy, and when I quit, that issue gets solved, and when I start up again because the issue was solved, the issue comes back.

      Some issues have been:

      I’m not comfortable with myself

      I feel isolated

      I’m bad with money

      I don’t like my job

      I feel depressed

Maybe there’s some deep underlying issues I could try to therapy my way out of, but the obvious common denominator seems to be weed.

It’s hard to explain it, but those are my observations.

That are a lot of reasons to stop and not start again. I wish you all the best in reaching your goal.

Kinda a lot to pile on the herb but there not doubt can affect all these things but still.

I think issue is deeper. Got to fix that but quiting is likely part of the fix.

If you ain’t having good time smoking, you shouldn’t be smoking period

Oh there is absolutely something deeper, but whatever that thing is seems to not bother me when I’m off the stuff.

I think this is the classic joke of

Patient: “doctor, my arm hurts when I do this”

          Doctor: “then don’t do that”

Wrong strain can be the real issue. Some people get anxiety triggered by it.

So something to consider if you haven’t tried islolating.

But at the end of the day, if you ain’t having a good time fuck it. Spend your time and money on shit that provides joy!

Of course, but always good to hear why people feel things. Amazing that such a simple question gets downvoted.
