Lets say you’re dead and im the Devil, your punishment for the life you led (you know what you did) is that you live your life again but its going to be a little crappier. Your choices are.

1.)The only songs that exist are songs by the artist Billy Joel. There are many artists doing their spin and take on the song but it is essentially 10,000 covers of piano man and uptown girl.

2.) Billy Joel is the only artist in the world, but he performs every kind of music. If you have ever played animal crossing he is basically K.K. The amount of songs in the world doesn’t change but its all Billy Joel, he cant die, but he can do 1000 shows a night.

#2 - it means he performs instrumental music as well. He can use a sequencer and samples of other people’s voice. Hell, creativity flourishes with some limitations.

#1. Clearly you can modify things to the point of no recognition- just look at how electronic music does it…

I actually like Billy Joel but having only one artist is too dry.

So I can have Stephin Merritt performing songs Billy Joel has written, or Billy Joel performing songs Stephin Merritt has written?

    Obviously the latter.

Sure. I don’t listen to music anyways. Nothing against music, just not my thing.

I have a condition called musical anhedonia. There are lots of us out there but we don’t show ourselves because of social stigma against not being able to enjoy music.
