the race to the right continues for US Republicans
- Step 1: defund government agencies
- Step 2: point to “how poorly the government runs”
- Step 3: campaign on the platform that big government is bad
- Step 4: repeat until the world is a fireball
Does he even know what Energy does or is he add ignorant as Rick Perry?
this almost certainly falls into a weird middle ground of “virtue signal that even he knows is not realistic, but which also speaks to the legitimate opinion of many Republican voters and elites probably including himself”. DeSantis is many things–but ignorant is not one of them.
Oh he’s definitely in the virtue signaling end of his business. He keeps pushing laws that he knows damn well are unconstitutional but they sure rile the base.
DeSantis is all about performance politics. He does things not because he thinks they are the right thing to do, but because he thinks the performance of him “hurting the right people” will get him more votes.
He doesn’t even care if his laws are overturned later. He can either ignore that they were overturned or he can rail against “liberal activist judges” (even if the judge was appointed by Trump).
So without the IRS why would anyone pay taxes and then how would the country continue to exist?
He would probably just pull a Comcast and rename the IRS to something catchier but more invasive to the lesser communities
Have you read any of the Shadowrun series of books where everything is controlled by mega corporations with their own private armies and pseudo slavery?
Yea… That.
Ah, free money for people who vote for DeSantis.
If the IRS gets eliminated the US is gone. Probably the Dept of Commerce and Energy too. And Education would be only a matter of time.
@angstylittlecatboy @alyaza it’s bizarre how the tax dodgers don’t seem to understand the connection between taxes and the value of money.
“Tragedy of the commons” + “diffusion of responsibility” + extreme individualism + right-libertarianism “taxation is theft”
