Xiang Jingyu, born on this day in 1895, was one of the earliest female members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and a pioneer of the women’s movement of China. She was executed by Guomindang police on May 1st, 1928.

Xiang Jingyu was politically radicalized when she attended the Montargis Women’s University in France. While studying there, Jingyu read many of Marx’s works and became a communist.

In 1923, Xiang became editor of a weekly supplement to The Republican Daily, a Guomindang newspaper. The same year Xiang Jingyu was also elected as a Central Committee member and became the first secretary of the “Women’s Movement Committee”.

In 1924, Xiang led a strike involving about ten thousand female workers from silk factories. Then, she founded the “Committee of Women’s Liberation” and trained many female cadres, who then became a force against feudalism and imperialism.

Xiang Jingyu was arrested in the French Concession Sandeli in Wuhan on March 20th, 1928. French officials turned her over to the Guomindang in April. On May 1st, 1928 she was executed.

you should always press supress button on landowners right at the start of the game, fire all their generals/admirals and then start slowly passing laws to disempower them

the political system in v3 is so fucking weird and convoluted, and really hard to interact with to get what you want. I just added a cheat to get things to pass easier, i don’t wanna deal with it lol.

Yeah its very cool and ambitious what they are trying to do, but it just didn’t get enough time in the oven i think. It was really painful trying to get a vanguard leader for an interest group, if you wanted to go communism route. I added a decision to just replace leaders in IGs when I want to do my transition.

Suppressing them is step 1 every time I play, but I was playing as japan and did some cheesing to bump them down enough temporarily to trigger an event but boy did they NOT like that. I also hadn’t developed my urban industries enough, meaning they were just constantly regaining their influence, revolting, losing the war and whatever influence they built, rinse and repeat.

Started a new run as Persia that is going insanely well. It’s January of 1840, the entirety of Central Asia that wasn’t already under Russian/Qing control at the start are now my vassals, and I completely control nearly all of the Persian region. Infamy is pretty high but I have no real competitors in the region so once I finish growing I’m going to settle down and work on my economy. Currently I’m waiting for my peace treaty with Oman to expire to get that second little port they have, so while that’s going on I’m getting ready to invade Afghanistan. Surely nothing will go wrong in Afghanistan.

Edit: things went wrong in Afghanistan

yeah, I restarted playing this game after a break and I’m encountering revolts much more frequently - never used to have this problem before. I think they patched some stuff

          lol of course it’s afghanistan
